Ruff to Wags, a family-run business, believes in building a community of positive and responsible dog owners.  

Ruff to Wags will do everything in our control to provide excellent customer service, a positive learning environment whether it is in your home or on our 2 acre property in Watkins, CO. We want to help you feel more confident in your training and your fur baby go from feeling a bit Ruff, unhappy, anxious or afraid to happy and Wagging after spending time with Ruff to Wags.

According to Carrie ” it is not only my passion to help you in the best way I can, but to also do what is needed to make sure I am doing right by your dog. You should expect nothing less!” 

There are a lot of old and outdated Dog Training techniques that have been now proven to cause adverse effects and could set you and your dog backwards. The advantage of hirig a Nationally Certified Dog Trainer, through the CPDT or IAABC is that we must be contantly continuing our education for the most updated scientifically backed training techniques in order to keep up our licence.  

After realizing her passion, she pursed her formal education as a dog trainer in 2019. While dog training is still an unregulated industry, she has sought education through various entities such as CATCH Academy, an accredited Positive Reinforcement school as well as a multitude of resources, seminars and courses available under CPDT and IAABC. In order to obtain her CPDT-KA certification, she logged over 300 hours of private dog training with various clients and assisted many families transforming their dogs into well behaved canines, especially during the pandemic. She completed her mentorship with Sue Brown, MNM CBC CPDT-CA in 2021 and is currently pursuing her certification for Behavior Consultant Canine Knowledge Assessment.  

In addtion to the CPDT-KA, Carrie has obtained her credentials as a certified evaluator for the American Kennel Club. Carrie can adminster the training  or provide the test for a Good Canine Citizen.  Certified additionally in Pet CPR and First Aid and has completed the following courses: Aggression in Dogs Master Course (years 2021 & 2022) by Michael Shikashio CDBC, Grisha Stewart Courses (BAT 2.0 training), Building Canine Body Confidence with movement, Common Behavior Challenges inside the Home, How to Teach a Group Class for Dog Aggression using click to calm with Emma Parsons, Separation Anxiety in Shelters, Rescues and Newly Adopted Dogs with Melana DeMartini. Experience in AKC Scent work. Member of the CDTN (Colorado Dog Trainers Network) created by Sue Brown.
